The décor is modern and sleek and the staff is both suitably attractive and very open to offering tips to lonely travelers trying to work their way through the maze of London's gay scene. The restaurant's menu is a blend of updated traditional English favorites like black pudding and fish and chips and more modern Asian fusion cuisine that somehow all works together masterfully. Just down the street from Balans is the less expensive Balans Café which stays open late, serves breakfast all day, and features the British equivalent of good old-fashioned diner fare (with a few twists, of course). It's the ideal place to pop by for a snack after a few pints and a sweaty night on the dance floor.
