Five major exhibitions per year as well as lectures, discussions, publications and a growing permanent collection present the medium of photography in all its diversity. Winterthur's phototography museum was founded in 1993 and is dedicated to photography as an art form and as documentation of reality. Photo Museum Winterthur is on one hand an art museum for photographs by contemporary photographers, on the other hand it is a classical museum for 19th and 20th century masterpieces.
