  • The scientific equipment and instruments displayed here belonged primarily to the Medici and Lorraine families, and kids will be fascinated by the utter lack of technology in early science. Yet scientists managed to make monumental discoveries.
  • Unquestionably the most fascinating--and ghoulish--item in this musuem is Galileo's right middle finger in a jar. On a pedestal. It's got the "eewww" factor, but it can also get kids interested in all of the other Galileo-related displays here, including his telescopes and compasses and the telescope lens with which he actually discovered Jupiter's satellites.
  • Unlike most of the museums, this one is closed on Sundays rather than Mondays.
