Hop aboard this famous railway and immerse yourself in a stunning tropical forest, complete with cascading waterfalls, the spectacular Barron Gorge, and colorful wildlife. The train itself, which gradually transports passengers 328 meters above sea level, is a great family attraction. At your journey's end (approximately one hour, 45 minutes away), the town of Kuranda boasts myriad family attractions, starting with the heritage station and lush tropical gardens themselves. Then there is the chance to see the feathered inhabitants of Birdworld, the cuddly marsupials at Koala Gardens, and the colorful residents of the Butterfly Sanctuary. There's also the opportunity to join an Aboriginal walking trail, walk in Barron Gorge National Park, and visit Rainforestation Nature Park. Kuranda is also home to the immensely popular Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park.
