The most ambitious trail in Gaspésie National Park is Great Chic-Chocs Crossing, a 60-mile excursion from Mont Logan to Mont Jacques-Cartier. Traversed year-round (by backpackers in summer and backcountry skiers in winter), it is an extension of the Appalachian Trail. Crossing the park through grand landscapes to barren peaks reaching 3,280 feet, it is an exceptional way to see the park's mountains and wildlife. The trail takes up to ten days to complete but has lodging huts and primitive campsites en route. In winter, skiers can have their baggage transported from one hut to the next. Summer shuttle service provides transportation to the western trailhead at Mont Logan, while a bus travels daily year-round from the Discovery and Visitors Centre to the eastern trailhead at Mont Jacques-Cartier.
