Open mid-June to mid-October, The Algonquin Art Centre is both a showcase and a creative outlet – a place to see and do. With indoor and outdoor galleries, it features Canada's premier wilderness and wildlife art exhibitions. At the same time it offers art activities for all ages on a drop-in basis from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., as well as scheduled art classes with pre-registration required. Geared to beginners, the classes are delightfully varied, from making pebble mosaic keepsake boxes to learning basic watercolor techniques beside a lake. Whatever the medium or creation, this opportunity is about being inspired. After all, Algonquin Park is the inspiration of world-class artists, including Tom Thomson and members of the Group of Seven. Visitors can also look to special events with renowned artists providing talks and demonstrations. Fees apply and all supplies are provided.
