This unusual museum doesn't have any indoor displays—it's all outdoors. Tracing Algonquin's logging history from the 1830s to the present, it features 19 exhibits on a 1.5-kilometer-long (one-mile-long) wooded trail. Among the exhibits is a log dam and chute that got logs past rapids and waterfalls, and the "alligator," an amphibious steam-powered tug that hauled up to 60,000 logs and today is one of only three left in the world. There's a locomotive that was used to haul timber to mills, a blacksmith shop, and antique logging equipment. It was a hard life for the loggers in the 1800s. The camboose camp housed 52 lumberjacks who generally slept in the same clothes they worked in and rarely washed more than their hands and face.
