A short drive outside Quepos, Rainmaker Reserve is a deep-in-the-jungle retreat where scientists created six hanging bridges to help their research in the rainforest. Follow a naturalist over the bridges, some as long as a football field, as you look high above a waterfall and the Pacific shores. Strolling by centuries-old cashew trees, the thick roots of the ficas tree, and long hanging vines, it’s a wonderful introduction to the lush rainforest. You’ll no doubt spot one of the many hummingbirds sticking their beaks into the heliconia and may even find a toucan. Afterwards, everyone returns to the main lodge to drink fresh starfruit and tamarind juice.
