The Larch Meadows Trail offers sights of a marsh habitat with an opportunity to view the resident wildlife including numerous songbirds.

The trail begins next to the ball field off Sandbank Road. This is an old Sapony Indian site until the time of the Revolutionary War. The trail explores habitats of a mixed deciduous woods, a wetland lush with cattails, towering black walnuts with an understory of huge native ferns and a variety of wildflowers. This easy path weaves around the lowland which is enjoyable to hike during the warmer evenings of the year when the deafening amphibians are in chorus. The trail meanders back to the ball field area.

Directions: From Ithaca, NY, Travel 6 miles south along SR 13 to Sandbank Road. Parking is immediate. The loop nature trail begins from either side of the recreation area.
