Little Bear Trail provides access to the more heavily used Bear Creek Trail. For the most part, you will be in shaded forests of aspen and spruce-fir. The steeper part of the trail is near the bottom where switchbacks occur.

Directions: From Dolores, Colorado, Proceed north on Colorado State Hwy 145 for approximately 27.0 miles. Turn right (south) onto Hillside Drive (Forest Service Road 436) for 12.5 miles at which point you will come to the first fork in the road. (This is Forest Service Road 358, but it is not posted at this time). Park in this area. The trail is reached by bushwhacking your way through the aspen and going down the meadow. Prior to reaching the creek you will intersect an identifiable trail which parallels the stream a distance. From here you should have no problems keeping on the trail.
