Wildcat Mountain Trail is situated south from Perryville. The area offers a scenic trail that can challenge even the most experienced rider.

Traveling through a series of old abandoned logging roads dating back to the 1930's, the trail offers a wide variety of conditions. Riders will enjoy the excitement of steep, rocky terrain and sweeping, grassy stretches opening up panoramic views of the Ouachita Mountains. A short rock scramble to Bobcat Point will reveal a spectacular view of Wildcat Mountain. Sections of the trail wind back and forth across narrow rocky creeks.

Trail Information: The course travel time is usually 3 to 8 hours across unsurfaced trail of various grades. Trail markings include orange rectangles.

Site Amenities: There is a small parking area at the trailhead on Forest Road 179.

Surrounding Area: It is possible to camp, hike, picnic, fish and swim at Lake Sylvia Recreation Area. Enjoy the self-guided auto tour along Winona Scenic Drive. For an extended hike, explore the Ouachita National Recreational Trail, stretching 192 miles east to west across the Ouachita National Forest. The Chinquapin Mountain Walk-In Turkey Hunting Area and the Flatside Wilderness Area offer the more adventurous hiker a primitive escape.

Directions: From Perryville, Take Highway 9 to Forest Road 132, west 4 miles to Forest Road 179, south 300 feet.Alternatively, take Highway 9 to Weyerhaeuser Road 28970, west to Forest Road Y35P.Additionally, take Highway 7 to Forest Road 132, travel east 25 miles to Forest Road 179, then south for 300 feet.
