Trail Highlights: This bike trail offers a variety of road conditions from primitive to paved county roads. Visitors can experience the many forests of the Ouachita Mountains, from pure pine stands to mixed hardwoods. This ride is very level and could be a good selection for a family ride.
Trail Information: Trail markings are white rectangles and carsonite signs. The route travels over a variety of road types including paved, gravel and unsurfaced.
Water: Not drinkable, therefore treat all water from lakes and streams before drinking.
Site Amenities: There are no developed facilities. Bring your own drinking water.
Safety: Be careful of traffic along the roads, as many are open to motorized vehicles.
Requirements: State laws govern the sections of trail along paved roads. Pack it in; pack it out.
Surrounding Area: The closest camping is at Cedar Fourche, Irons Fork and Buckville Recreation Area. Lake Ouachita offers a full range of water sports and the Ouachita trail adds further hiking opportunities. At Richard Bottoms tourists can observe wildlife in their natural habitat.
Directions: From Hot Springs, Take Highway 7 north to Highway 298. Follow Highway 298 for about 13 miles until the rifle range signs. Turn left and follow the road to the parking area.
