  • The Hawaii Maritime Center is open daily and it's a stop on the Waikiki Trolley. Kids five and younger ride for free.
  • Check out the replica of a Polynesian sailing canoe; four-mast, fully rigged ship; and skeletons of a humpback whale and 1,805-pound marlin. Teens will be drawn to the surfboard collection and video clips of old-time surfing "greats."
  • The Polynesians first traveled the Pacific since some 1,500 years before the Europeans arrived.
This center is the sister institution to the stellar Bishop Museum, an exemplary facility of Hawaiian history and culture.
