When it comes to diving, Oahu is best known for its wrecks, and the wreck that stands out above all others is the YO-257. Originally sunk by Atlantis submarines to create an artifical reef for sub tours, this WWII fuel boat is today one of the richest and most popular dive sites on the island. The main deck of the ship sits in about 85 feet of water, making this an intermediate to advanced dive. Sea turtles, reef sharks, spotted eagle rays, and tropical fish are regulars here, and divers will often see the Atlantis sub, complete with tourists waving behind their portholes, cruising the perimeter of the wreck.
