Meet locals as well as visitors at this 76-acre beach park in Honolulu good for swimming, surfing, and body boarding. Come early on weekends and holidays, when the beach tends to get crowded. Steer clear of the reef area beyond the channel unless you are a very strong swimmer. Winds and tidal changes can create strong currents; check beforehand with the lifeguards. There are also shaded picnic areas at the beach.
