Hapuna Beach (Ben Sumner)
Set up base camp here. Half a mile long and almost 200 feet wide, this beach is frequently rated the best in the U.S. Guests of the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel congregate on one end while locals swim and sunbathe at the other end. Head to the south side of the beach for excellent snorkeling near the coral reef. Remember, lifeguards are only occasionally on duty; restrooms, showers, picnic tables, and equipment rental are all available.

  • There are only a few good white sand beaches on the Big Island, and this is by far the best. Come to swim, sun, and relax; an ideal spot for visiting families.
