Silver baron Jerome B. Wheeler commissioned the construction of this lavish venue in 1889, and today it's an impeccably preserved and enchanting place to take in a show. Aspen's top venue for the performing arts, it showcases theater, dance, film, and musical events year-round. With crystal chandeliers and brass wall sconces, gold trim and elegantly stenciled dark wood walls, the interior is a work of art. Lush red velvet seats and a matching carpet heighten the romantic, Old World vibe. –Kim Grant
