Kakadu's most famous bush walk is the Barrk Sandstone Bushwalk. This difficult 12-kilometer trek, however, is too challenging for many families. Alternate options abound, with the Yurmikmik Walks in the southern part of the park a good option. This series of trails caters to walkers of different ages and capabilities, with the shortest track being a two-kilometer round trip on the Boulder Creek Walk. Families with older children can tackle the five-kilometer return walk to the Yurmikmik Lookout or the 7.5-kilometer hike to Motor Car Falls and back. Families with plenty of stamina and more experience might like to tackle the trek to Kurrundie Creek (11-kilometer return). This can also be combined with a hike to Motor Car Falls (a total distance of 14 kilometers). Both of the latter walks, however, are graded as difficult and are not very marked.
