The Discovery Room in the Visitor Centre is fantastically engaging for youngsters. They can climb inside an artificial tree and listen to park sounds; touch feathers, turtle shells, and tree grooves made by bark beetles; and guess different smells from various jars. Costumes allow kids to become a turtle, bat, or flying squirrel. A digital microscope gives the whole family an up-close look at a butterfly wing, a fishbone, and a fossil. Kids can put on wildlife puppet shows. There's a coloring and drawing station along with a reading corner. Elsewhere in the center are colorful exhibits displaying the park's different habitats, plus a theater where the "Keep the Songs Alive" film provides a terrific introduction to the natural and cultural history of the park.
