Fishing Cove is the park's only designated wilderness camping area. The small ocean cove, with its cobblestone beach and grassy hillside, lies at the end of a five-mile descent. Starting from the top of MacKenzie Mountain, at 1,165 feet, the trail is a steady downhill trek through a deep groove in the plateau. The return, of course, is a climb all the way out. The cove was once the site of a Scottish fishing community. Campers are required to have a backcountry permit and to bring their own drinking water and camp stoves (open fires are prohibited).
