The Cedar Valley Nature Trail, located within Ute Lake State Park is a 1.5 mile loop that has a moderate grade with a few relatively steep and difficult sections. It climbs through rugged terrain of loose rock, passing yucca, cactus, juniper, and a few pinyon, and provides panoramic views of the lake. Planned for the near future is a 1 mile walking/fitness trail.

Directions: From Tucumcari, Ute Lake is located in the east-central region of the state. It lies north east of Tucumcari, take Highway 54 north.
