Two miles from downtown Traverse City, the Park spans 47 acres, including the sandy shoreline of Grand Traverse Bay. Biking, hiking, and cross-country skiing are popular on the trail and anglers hook salmon, trout, and panfish in the bay. The area, which was expanded in 1921 and 1939, was once home to the Ottawa branch of Algonquin Indians. Visitors flock to the annual National Cherry Festival and self-guided, fall foliage tours.
