Little Horse Mesa Trail begins at the trailhead on Soda Pocket Road, just north of Soda Pocket Campground. The steep, 2 mile, trail leads up onto Little Horse Mesa, the highest point in Sugarite Canyon State Park, where hikers are rewarded for their efforts with a meadow loaded with wildflowers, a good chance of seeing wildlife, and great views in all directions.

Directions: From Raton, Sugarite Canyon State Park is located in the north eastern region of the state, just east of Raton, offof Highway 72.
