This is one of the few public area in the United sates where visitors are encouraged to attack the land with shovels and hammers, hauling off parts of the park. Visitors are allowed to take up to 15 pounds of rock from most of the park.
The 1.2 mile trail provides access to rock collecting areas, plus adjacent state and federal lands. The trail, rated as moderate, has a few steep sections as is climbs into the Little Florida Mountains, passing through several gullies and a landscape of rugged vegetation and panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
Directions: From Demming, Rockhound State Park is located in the south western region of the state. It is south east of Demming, take Highway 11 South to Highway 397 East.
