This easy 2.5-mile trail begins at the CCC Museum combined with the Ground Pine Nature Trail. It descends west along the shore of Beaver Lake for approximately 0.25 mile, Ground Pine Path veers right while Beaver Lake Trail continues beside the lake. The quiet visitor may even spot a beaver swimming in this peaceful lake. At about 1.5 miles, the visitor comes upon Old Mill site which was built in the mid-1800s.
Directions: From Richmond, VA, Pocahontas State Park is in Chesterfield County, about 20 miles south of Richmond. From I-95, take Exit 61 and go west on Route 10 to Route 655, Beach Road; or take Exit 67, go north on Route 150 to Route 10; go east to Beach Road. The park is four miles on right; or take Route 288 from I-95 to Route 10 East and go one mile to Beach Road. Follow Beach Road to the park entrance. Continue on the main park road turning left into the CCC Museum parking lot. The trailhead is located next to the museum.
