Interesting cultural and nature history pervades Newport Trail and Sand Cove-Duck Bay Loop.

The Newport Trail and Sand Cove-Duck Bay Loop travels five miles through eastern boreal (northern) forest. Duck Bay-Sand Cove follows the shoreline past Riley Point. Impressive rocky coves and low ridges were once the shoreline. View plant life typically seen farther north than Newport State Park.

Directions: From Ellison Bay, WI, Take Hwy. 42 north and east for 2.3 miles to County NP. Travel south and east for 2.5 miles to South Newport Lane. Head south 0.9 mile to park entrance. Trails are accessed from first and second parking lots.
