As Newport is the state's only "wilderness park," the area is roadless but for the entrance road. Camp at one of sixteen primitive, hike-in sites.
Share the trail here, as 17 of the 38 miles of hiking trail are also open to off-road cycling.
Paddle into the park via a boat launch on the west shore of Europe Lake (via Europe Lake Rd. off HWY 42). Newport's two campsites on the lake's eastern shore can't be reserved, but they are the park's most remote and, arguably, scenic.
