Dr. Dannelly, an orthopedic surgeon, has tirelessly encouraged countless Twin County residents to improve their physical fitness along the New River Trail.

Dr. Ed Dannelly moved to the Twin County area in 1979. In his orthopedic surgery practice and in is personal life, Dr. Dannelly has been and continues to be a dedicated proponent of personal health and physical fitness. He has tirelessly encouraged countless Twin County residents to improve their physical fitness, and has been quick to recommend that his patients walk, run or bike on the New River Trail.

The Dr. Edward Dannelly III Fitness Complex was dedicated on October 6, 2001 featuring a running / walking track, 10 exercise stations, picnic gazebo, large parking area with plans for a picnic shelter, playground, and bridge access to the Cliffview Campground.

This wonderful site was made possible by donations from businesses, office, stores, companies, friends and citizens from the surrounding areas of Galax City, Carroll and Grayson Counties, and the Town of Fries.

Directions: From Galax, VA, From US 58 in Galax, go north on Rt. 887 to Cliffview Road (Route 721). After turning onto Cliffview Road, one should take the first road on the right, Creek View Road. Follow Creek View to the Dannelly Complex, approximately 1 mile (on the left).
