Mt. Philo Trail is an easy stroll around Mt. Philo's peak, elevation 968 feet. Some folks enjoy the challenge of hiking the park road up but most enjoy driving the ascent to enjoy panoramic views from picnic sites and granite ledges. From the parking area,100 yards west is a short trail leading to one of the overlooks perched on a huge chunk of granite. Just down the trail is another impressive look with views stretching farther north. Mt. Philo Trail offers views of the rich agricultural valley with the back drop of New York's Adirondacks and the expansive Lake Champlain.

Directions: From Vergennes, VT, At the junction of SR 22A and US 7 travel 6 miles north on US 7 to State Park Road which will be on your right. Mt. Philo State Park's contact station and trailhead are at the top of a steep road which is not recommended for trailers.
