Quiet and picturesque is how Mt. Gilead remains all year. Hiking is limited but makes a nice addition to a night of camping under the stars.

More than three miles of hiking trails transverse Mt. Gilead State Park. The Sam's Creek Self-guided Nature Trail starts near the east end of the camping area. Trails provide opportunities for exercise, nature study and wildlife observation. In winter, cross-country skiers enjoy using the trails during times of snow cover.
