Traveling over the small Peabody River bridge, the trail begins from the parking lot which runs alongside Stony Brook. The path parallels the brook for about 2 miles until the brook forks and the trail continues straight. Most of the trail is enjoy with a gradual ascent until it approaches the terminus where it steepens yet offers rewarding views of Mt. Moriah's southern slopes. The trail terminates at Carter-Moriah Trail which may be hiked north or south. Hiking north, you may choose to finish at the town of Gorham or continue via other intersecting trails. Hiking south, you may loop back to SR 16 via North Carter Trail to Imp Trail. Or you may continue south to reach Carter Dome and other peaks along with a number of intersecting trails.
Directions: From Gorham, NH, Travel south on SR 16 approximately 2 miles to a parking area to reach the Stony Brook Trailhead on the left (east) side.

Elevation Gain: 2,000 feet
