In forests of ponderosa pine, pinyon, and alligator juniper, these trails offer a great escape. There is an interpretive nature trail and longer hikes that link up with the Cibola National Forest.

Manzano Mountain State Park has about 3 miles of interconnecting hiking trails and a marked nature trail. Theses trails offer easy access to the many miles of trails in the Cibola National Forest. Trails wind through the forest, circling the main section of the park, where the campground, office, and other facilities are located. Easy to moderate, the trails are fairly flat and bordered with rock and shrub oak.

A trail guide, available at the park office, provides information on the trees and other plants. Horseback riding is permitted on much of the trail system.

Directions: From Albequerqe, Manzano Mountains State Park is located in the west- central region of the state, south east of Albuquerque.Take I-40 East to Highway 337 south. The sate park is near the town of Manzano.
