The trailhead is about 100 feet before the Murphy Ranch Gate, or can be accessed fro the Rim Trail #139. This trail offers access to the Sierra Ancha Wilderness. The Murphy Ranch Trail drops down to the Rim Trail. There are campsites at the trailhead, water may be had at Cold Springs Canyon.

Directions: From Young, Travel about 20 miles south on State Highway #288, take FR #487 6.5 miles to FR #487A. The trailhead is about 100 feet before the Murphy Ranch Gate, or can be accessed fro the Rim Trail #139.
