Woodland Ponds Trail are wonderful fishing ponds for young anglers. They may be reached from a small parking area on the northern end of the park. You'll have to pass two gates to reach the lot, or there is a trail leading from Little Fern Loop camping area. Hemlock Woods Trail, which is an extension of Beech Woods Trail, also leads to the ponds. The ponds each have names: Bull Frog Pond and Big Bass Pond. Children delight in the names and discovering the ponds' name sakes.

Directions: From Waverly, PA, Travel SR 407 for 2.8 miles to the state park. Travel past the lake and take a left at the gated area. You will go through a second gate with parking just beyond that. The trail begins from that parking lot. OR After entering the park, take a left onto Lake View Drive then a right onto Fairground Hill Road and follow it to the end. There is a spur trail off Little Fern Loop which takes you to Woodland Ponds Trail.
