Laurel Trail is relatively new addition to the park's trail system affording completion of a larger loop.

Laurel Trail is a spur trail off Lakeshore Trail (after it crosses Saunders Creek) that enables the hiker to complete the loop trail around Holliday Lake when the 4-H Educational Center is conducting Clay Pigeon Programs in their new shotgun range. The trail is 1.2 miles and takes the visitor through a hardwood stand and down along Saunders Creek. Signage indicates when this trail must be used, but you can walk it anytime to enjoy the cool, sheltered forest.

Directions: From Appomattox , VA, Travel 4.5 miles north on Rt. 24. Turn right on Rt. 626 and travel 2 miles to Rt. 640. Turn left onto 640 and at 0.2 mile, turn right onto Rt. 692. Park entrance is about 1.5 miles. From the park entrance go all the way down to the lake parking area. Begin on Lakeshore Trail and hike to where it meets Laurel Ridge. Signage is good.
