Pothole Trail is the western terminus of the 1,000-mile National Scenic Ice Age Trail and the most geologically unique trail in the park. Hikers enjoy scenic views of the Dalles of the St. Croix River gorge. This short hike is atop Old Man of the Dalles rock formation past world famous potholes formed by glacial meltwaters. Terrain is comprised of an uneven, gravel surface with stone stairs. An observation deck with benches awaits.

Directions: From St. Croix Falls, WI, At the junction of Hwy. 35 and US 8, travel south on Hwy. 35 for half a mile. Turn right to enter the park. Take the park road about half a mile. Turn right toward North Campground, after maintenance area (on left). Pull-off parking is on the left immediately after making the turn.
