This is a difficult path but well worth the trip. The view is magnificent.

Molly's Knob, blazed in white, is a difficult ascend to the park's high point of 3,270 feet. However, once you arrive at the knob, the view of southwestern Virginia is well worth the trip. The trail length is 3.2 miles round trip. For those with a keen eye, the spring blooming lady's slipper flower graces the understory along side many varieties of ferns. The large loop, combining Lake Trail, CCC Trail and Molly's Knob is approximately 5 miles in length with varying terrain and difficulty. Complimentary trail maps are available at various locations throughout the park.

Directions: From Marion, VA, Hungry Mother is located in Smyth County, Virginia. Take Exit 47 off Interstate 81. Travel for one mile on Rt. 11 toward Marion. Turn right on Rt. 16 north and travel four miles to the park entrance. After passing the contact station, continue on the main park road past the cabin area until the road dead-ends at a parking lot. Molly's Knob Trailhead is located there.

Difficulty: Strenuous
