The Woodland Field Loop offers an excursion through a meadow and woodland habitat via the Shadow Brook covered bridge. The trail makes a large loop paralleling the park road, sights of a nearby neighborhood, then weaving back to the covered bridge. There are two bisecting paths which add to the hike's length but not diversion. Small game and even white-tailed deer inhabit the area. This trail doubles as a cross-country trail in winter.
Directions: From Cooperstown, NY, Travel 8 miles north along Route 31 to the park entrance. After passing the ranger station, travel over the bridge and make your first right. Park in the large lot, left of Beaver Pond. Walk along the western edge of the pond, crossing Shadow Brook via the covered bridge. The trail loops through the woods with two bisecting paths.
