Discovered in 1808, one of the most well-known features in this area, The Flume is a narrow gorge offering access via a boardwalk which actually goes up into the Flume. Another feature along this easily accessed trail is Avalanche Falls which is at the upper end of the gorge. It too, is a wonderful sight. The Pool is a peaceful spot particularly in the off-season. This part of the sparkling Pemigewasset River is more than 100 feet in diameter and 40 feet deep. The hike is open year-round with fees and limited access effective seasonally.
