When touring the Mt. Laguna area, a must-do is the Desert View Interpretive Trail. Here you'll learn about unique Southern California plant life along with the opportunity to view spectacular desert panoramas. Dominating the landscape are stands of black oak versus the usual live oak typically found in this region. Spring is a wonderful time to hike this moderate, 1.2-mile trail. Summer heat can make for an uncomfortable trek. Be sure to keep an eye out for snakes along this rocky path.
Directions: From Mt. Laguna, CA, The trail is accessed from the southeast area of the Desert View Picnic Area off Sunrise Scenic Byway; signage is good.
