Flat Rock Trail is 2.5 miles in length traveling from the park to the top of Blue Mountain.

This 2.5 mile trail travels from the park to the top of Blue Mountain. The trailhead is at the footbridge next to the nature center. This is a moderate to rugged hike to the top of the mountain. At the top of the mountain, Flat Rock Trail joins Tuscarora Trail (The Appalachian Trail) to the overlook. The trail blaze changes from red to orange while on the Tuscarora Trail. Flat Rock Overlook is a natural rock outcrop that affords a view of the great Cumberland Valley. Return to the park via Flat Rock Trail or choose a different path back down the mountain.

Directions: From Newville, PA, Take SR 233 for 8 miles north of Newville. Travel to the nature center. The trailhead is located there.

Elevation: 1,800 feet

Elevation Gain: 1,000 feet

Distance: 2.5 miles

Difficulty: Strenuous
