The Charcoal Hearth Trail begins at the Iron Furnace Monument and travels northeast and actually goes into Michaux State Forest land for a short distance. It loops back and forth onto state forest and state park property at its northern tip before heading south paralleling Pine Grove Road. You will want to pick up the Thaddeus Stevens Historic Trail to take you back to the beginning point.

Directions: From Fayetteville, PA, Travel 4 - 5 miles east on US 30 and turn left onto Pine Grove Road. As soon as you enter the park, you will see the Iron Furnace Monument. The trail begins from this area. There is also a trailhead along US 30 before the entrance.
