The Brownsville Trail is reached north of the park entrance along SR 44. The hike is 6.4 miles round trip. The summit is reached at 3.2 miles. Several side trails offer access to SR 131, to the park campground and to several parking lots along Mountain Road. Features you can expect to see along Brownsville Trail include: the Norcross Quarry which offers wonderful views and sights of an 1900's granite quarry; Quarry Top Lookout at 1.2 miles; Knee Lookout at 2.0 miles; North Peak Lookout at 2.4 miles; and Brownsville Rock at 3.0 miles.
Directions: From Ascutney, VT, Travel to Interstate 91 (Exit 8). Travel 2 miles north on US 5. Bear left onto SR 44A and travel northwest. At 1 mile, you will see the park entrance. Continue on for another 1.8 miles to the junction with SR 44. Bear left (west) and travel 1 mile to the trailhead. Parking lot offered.
