This interesting gravel route located about midway between Red House and Quaker Area is enjoyed by both drivers and hikers. From ASP 2, several miles south of Red House and about 6 miles east of Quaker Area via ASP 3, folks enjoy parking at the scenic look parking area and viewing the headwaters of Limestone Brook. From this point, people either walk up the gravel road or drive to Thunder Rocks which is an interesting massive rock outcropping slowing being eaten away by time.

Elevation: 2,200 Feet

Elevation Gain: 420 Feet

Directions: From Salamanca, NY, Take SR 17 to Exit 19 which is 7 miles west of Salamanca. Travel ASP 2 passing the developed area of Red House. Travel several miles south turning left onto an unnamed gravel road. Shortly, it will reach an intersection where you will turn left again to reach Thunder Rocks. Alternatively, you may wish to pass the gravel road from ASP 2 and continue to the fork in the road where a scenic overlook presents itself straight ahead. There is parking available here. From the fork, turn left and proceed uphill to Thunder Rocks. Some folks choose to park in the scenic area lot and hike up the gravel road.
