Sonoma Coast State Park has what you want if you're looking for a place to stand together and gaze out at crashing surf; trails to hike across wild headlands and down to remote, boulder-strewn beaches; or a stretch of sand to walk with few others around. And you get all of it in 17 miles of rugged coastline extending from Vista Point, just north of Jenner, down to Bodega Point in the south. Included in the parklands are eight beaches. Goat Rock Beach is the most northern, and South Salmon Beach lies the farthest south. Bring your camera and wear lots of layers.
