Pine Grove Trail is an enjoyable 2.2-mile hike through the Virginia Kendall unit of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Named for the red and white pine plantation which it travels through, the trailhead is found in The Ledges region and more specifically, The Octagon Picnic Area.
The trail beings at the information kiosk in the upper parking lot. This is actually a loop route with the first mile serving as an access trail to the loop. Once you reach the main trail, you may hike either direction. Both offer sights that include a mixed deciduous forest, the pine plantation, several creek crossings, and trail junctions to The Ledges and Kendall Lake Areas.
Directions: From Hudson, OH, Travel State Route 303 out of Hudson turning south (left) onto SR 8 / Akron-Cleveland Road. Take SR 8 less than a mile turning right (west) onto Truxell / Kendall Park Road. You'll see a large RV dealer located on the east side of SR 8. You'll head west! Travel about half a mile to The Ledges and about a quarter mile further to reach Octagon Picnic Area. From the Octagon Picnic Area's upper parking lot, look for the trailhead in the southeastern corner.
