Enter the woods at the north end of the beach area just beyond the picnic and playground. The trail is wide with a gradual ascent north. After passing a deteriorating cabin the trail winds left making another ascent. Once you reach the top of the hill, the park office will be behind you, turn left. Hike a short distance cutting to the Campground Road. Turn right on the road and hike about 25 yards to campsite #16. A sign marks the path to the lake. Take this trail down to Yellow Creek. As you enter the floodplain, bear left and cross the small creek. After another ascent, the trail smoothes out before making another decent to the creek. Follow the path paralleling the creek down to Jefferson Lake. Hiking east along the north shore will carry you back to the beach / parking area.
Directions: From Richmond, OH, Travel west on State Route 43 for 1 mile. Turn right (north) onto County Road 54. Drive 1.7 miles to the park entrance. Drive to the beach. Trail begins at wood's edge at the north end of the playground area. Trail maps are available at park office.
