This trail travels from the group camping area, sites 2-6, to Wolf Rock summit and other trails which are part of the park's network of trails system. The hike is only 1 mile long, however, it is considered strenuous due to the rocky terrain and elevation gain and loss.

Directions: From Sparta or Elkin, NC, The park is located between Sparta and Elkin, just south of the Blue Ridge Parkway. From US 21 take SR 1002 about four and a half miles to Traphill. In Traphill, turn north on the John P Frank Parkway and proceed two miles into the park. Stay on the main park road for approximately 4 miles until you see signs for trailhead parking. Begin on Stone Mountain Loop Trail bearing right to Wolf Rock Trail and continuing to Group Camp Trail. OR travel the main park road approximately 5 - 6 miles to the Group Camp Parking. Trail begins there.
