Designated a National Recreation Trail, Bartram Trail simulates naturalist William Bartram's route through the region. The trail begins on Hale Ridge Road near the Georgia-North Carolina line and continues southwest across the source streams of Holcomb Creek. Linking up with an old jeep road at Beegum Gap, the path dips down a ridge to 4,696-foot Rabun Bald, Georgia’s second highest mountain.
