This trail is accessed via the Buncombe Horse Range Trail.

This narrow trail is extremely steep and follows unsteady rock debris up the path. It is blazed in blue and provides great views, including Maple Camp Bald to the northeast. No water exists on this trail. It can be used for a loop with the Buncombe Horse Range Trail, Mt. Mitchell Trail and Black Mountain Crest Trail.

Directions: From Burnsville, NC, This trail begins on the Buncombe Horse Range Trail on its western side. It is marked with a wooden sign and is blazed in blue. It reaches the Black Mountain Crest Trail near big Tom Peak.

Elevation: 6,260 feet

Elevation Gain: 520 feet

Distance: 0.4 miles

Difficulty: Strenuous
